PhD. Ni Yixin from University of Hong Kong Invited to Carry on Academic Exchange in Our University
During December 13 – 15, 2005, Dr. Ni Yixin, who is an internationally known scholar in the field of electric power system and associate professor in Electrical Machinery and Electronic Engineering Department of Hong Kong University and honored professor, doctoral supervisor in North China Electric Power University, is invited to come to our university to take part in activities of academic exchange.
Dr. Ni Yixin and teachers and doctors in Electric Power Department of our university have an informal discussion on educational system and the way of teaching and scientific research of Hong Kong and mainland of China . They in particular deeply discuss the latest research tendency in the field of domestic and international electric power system. During this period, Dr. Ni Yixin also gives an academic lecture to teachers and students of our university. And then he introduces the latest research results which he achieves by undertaking the key subject for research of the national natural science fund. Meanwhile, he shows the new blueprint for the development of large electric net. And he carries on extensive and deep exchange in many aspects such as scientific research method and academic paper writing with teachers and students of our university.
As an honored professor and doctoral supervisor of our university, Dr. Ni Yixin cultivates young teachers for our university and has undertaken the task of cultivating 2 doctors. In this visit, Dr. Ni Yixin specially organizes the defence interview of doctoral dissertation for Zhou Ming, who is an on-job doctor and a young teacher in Electric Power Department of our university. Mr. Zhou is the first doctor cultivated by Dr. Ni Yixin for our uinversiry. In the defence, Zhou Ming's doctoral thesis obtains high evaluation given by the defence committee composed of famous professors from Tsing-Hua University , Tianjin University and Harbin Institute of Technology. This doctoral thesis has already been recommended to participate in outstanding doctoral dissertation assessment.
In addition, after the English course Operation and Control of Generating Electricity has been taught twice for graduate students of our university, Dr. Ni Yixin promises joyfully to offer an English course Dynamic Electric Network Analysis to graduate students of our university and come our university to give lectures again in the second term of 2005- 2006 school year. His courses play a good directive and exemplary role in launching English courses in our university.
